Two Months Old!

I am not sure how that is even possible.  Time is really flying!  I only have about 3 weeks left until I have to head back to work and I am trying to soak up every second I can with Walker between now and then.  We found out last week that we got into our #1 choice for childcare after spending 12 weeks on the waiting list.  I was very excited.  After working in the business, I have seen what can go on in childcare.  I was very picky and and asked a ton of questions, but the place we found seems to have when we are looking for!  It is a family run business (VERY important to me) with strong christian values, low employee turnover and it is very close to my office.  Walker will start there three days a week the Monday after Thanksgiving.  He will spend every Wednesday and Friday home with his Daddy.

Walker is starting to become quite the entertainer.  He coos and squeals and smiles constantly.  We are still doing our song time as often as we can and he still loves it.  Sometimes he even tries to sing along.  He loves baths and getting his diaper changed.  Honestly, I think he just likes to be naked!

Walker had quite a few adventures during his second month of life.  First his Grandma Susie can to visit, then he visited a dairy farm and pumpkin patch.  We also took his first road trip to meet his grandpas and aunts and uncles and cousins in Iowa.  We also stopped and visited with Aunt Diane and Uncle Craig and met Colin and Rachel in Moline and drove out to Des Moines to meet some very good friends of ours.  It was so much fun showing off our little man, and he was wonderful.  He was a trooper in the car and handled the change in schedule like a pro.   We had a very good time and look forward to more trips out west next year.

Ryan and I have so much fun with Walker.  He is an absolute joy.  I can't wait to see what new adventures lie ahead!

Walker's First Pumpkin!

Ryan and I always enjoy carving pumpkins every Halloween.  I was very excited to share our tradition with Walker.  This year he mainly watched, but he did end up getting his hands dirty too!

Fall Fun

Yesterday Ryan, my mother, Joseph, Walker and I spent the afternoon at Kelsay Farms.  It was chilly and cloudy, but we made the best of the day and had a good time playing corn hole, navigating the corn maze and learning about the dairy farm.  Walker was wonderful and slept in his Ergo Baby Carrier most of the time.  All in all, we had a good time.  It is a fun tradition that I look forward to every year.  Next year will be even more fun withWalker is toddling around and experiencing all the sights and sounds of the farm!

One Month Old

I cannot believe our Walker has been with us for a whole month!  Time is flying and I am just trying to take in as many wonderful moments as I can while he is still "tiny" and "new."

So far everything is going very well.  Walker is a fantastic eater!  I feel very fortunate that we never really had any issues with nursing.  My milk came in right on time and, so far, I have had no problems keeping up with Walker's healthy appetite.  He sleeps fairly well at night and I usually only have to get up every 3 hours or so to nurse. He is, however,  a horrible napper during the day!  I assume he gets that from me- I don't nap either.  Usually the only way I can get him to nap is in my arms or in his swing while the music is playing.  Needless to say, there are many days where I get nothing done around the house!  Walker also has a very pleasant disposition.  He is a very happy and content baby (as long as he is fed and his diaper is clean) and I am thankful that I have yet to have an issues soothing him when he is upset (nursing usually solves all my problems). :-)

My favorite part of our day is song and activity time.  I make sure to take time everyday to play music and sing with Walker.  We also have some fun movement songs that we listen to and I have a good time helping Walker do the movements. :-)  I look forward to the day when he will sing along and do the movements on his own, but we still have a good time and I think he really enjoys the music and Mommy's wonderful singing.

Ryan has been a great Dad to Walker and a fantastic husband as well.  He helps me around the house and makes sure the poor cats don't feel to neglected.  He also has no problems rolling up his sleeves and changing the poopy diapers and he is a pro at calming Walker and putting his to sleep.  It is heart-warming watching a father and his son.  They already have a  very special bond that I know will only grow as Walker gets older.

So far motherhood is everything I thought it would be and more.  It is truly an amazing and rewarding experience... it is also very challenging and exhausting, but I have to say I am enjoying every minute of it.  Walker is an absolute blessing and I thank God everyday for His wonderful gift.  I am the happiest I have ever been and look forward to the many months ahead full of new miracles and milestones!
